Uma Thurman in Kill Bill

The Bride, the ruthless assassin played by Uma Thurman, is the ultimate femme fatale, thanks to her body count of 76 kills in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume 1.

LOVEFiLM asked a panel of its members to watch a selection of films featuring some of Hollywood’s most renowned lady killers, to establish which leading ladies have racked up the highest body counts.

The panel were asked to record the total number of kills each fatal female was directly responsible for, forming a top ten list of film’s most lethal ladies, created to mark the feisty female spy thriller Salt becoming available to stream instantly on LOVEFiLM Instant.

Described in Kill Bill: Volume 1 as the ‘deadliest woman in the world’, it comes as no surprise that vengeful assassin The Bride managed to chalk up a body count worthy of first place. With an impressive tally of 76 gruesome kills, the fearless female beat nine other kick-ass chicks to the number one spot.

Zombie victim and go-go dancer, Cherry Darling, put her prosthetic machine-gun leg to good use in Planet Terror, disposing of 50 enemies and skipping into second place in the list.

Despite being the youngest entry in the list at eleven years old, ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl kicked her way into third place, with an impressive 44 kills in superhero action flick Kick-Ass.

Following closely behind in sixth place with a body count total of 11 is computer programmer and hacker, Trinity, the female star in science fiction action film The Matrix.

Gun-toting Domino Harvey in Domino steals seventh place. Based on the true story of the former model turned bounty hunter, the film sees Domino rack up ten hits as she strives to capture fugitives on the run.

Under cover of darkness, deadly vampire Selene sinks her teeth into her Lycan opponents, slaying nine of her werewolf adversaries in Underworld: Evolution and snatching eighth spot in the list.

Silent swordswoman, Miho from Frank Miller’s Sin City, uses her martial arts expertise to deliver a flurry of fatal blows, dispatching of eight rivals in the process and claiming the penultimate spot.

Despite ultimately falling at the hands of her enemies, Pictish warrior Etain rounds off the top ten by spearing, beheading and slaughtering five Romans in her quest for revenge in British film Centurion.
