Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba are to star in 'The Killer Inside Me' together.

The 'Gone Baby Gone' star will play Lou Ford, a seemingly dull sheriff's deputy, as the film follows his descent into murder.

Despite a normal family life with his girlfriend, Lou harbours both a dark secret and a prostitute lover, who will be portrayed by the 'Sin City' actress. After struggling with his demons, the officer eventually gives in and unleashes his wrath on unsuspecting local residents.

The film, which will be directed by Michael Winterbottom, is based on a novel by Jim Thompson.

Another big-screen adaptation of the book has already been made, starring Stacy Keach, but it is believed the new movie will work from the book, rather than as a remake of the 1976 film.
