Chace Crawford "blew away" Kenny Ortega with his audition for 'Footloose'.

The 'High School Musical' director is convinced the 'Gossip Girl' star is the perfect choice for the remake of the hit Kevin Bacon film.

He said: "I didn't know what Chace was going to bring into the room. All I can say is that he flew in early in the morning from the East Coast. Arrived just so in the zone, so ready and dedicated to do it. He fully invested himself. It was the most colourful and dynamic and fun audition I think I've ever had. And he's awesome and he's ready to do this."

And that's the kind of man I wanted for this role

Chace replaced Zac Efron in the role and Kenny knows he'll be able to light up the big-screen because of his amazing energy.

He added to About.com: "Chace brought an experience in the room with him, you know? He's fun to be with. He's colourful and smart and dedicated. And I mean he was just jumping into everything. When I said, 'Okay, let's dance,' you know the normal would be you'd see a little bit of a head bop, right? And he just said, 'Okay, where?' 'Face the mirror, man.' And he was there. He took off his shirt, he was in his T-shirt and jeans, and hit it. And that's the kind of man I wanted for this role."

'Footloose' is scheduled for release next July.
