SWEET OPENING FOR DEPP'S WONKAJOHNNY DEPP's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY has stormed to the top of the US box office with takings of $55.4 million (£30.7 million).The chart-topping debut marks Depp's biggest ever opening - surpassing the $46.6 million (£25.8 million) his 2003 blockbuster PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN earned in its first weekend.Opening in a solid second place was OWEN WILSON and VINCE VAUGHN's comedy WEDDING CRASHERS, which took in $32.2 million (£17.8 million).The previous weekend's number one film, FANTASTIC FOUR, slipped to third place with $22.7 million (£12.6 million), while WAR OF THE WORLDS and BATMAN BEGINS rounded out the top five with $15 million (£8.3 million) and $5.6 million (£3.1 million) respectively.
