Chris Pine is in negotiations to star in 'The Art of Making Money'.

The 'Star Trek' has been meeting with director D.J. Caruso about working together on the upcoming blockbuster about Art Williams, one of the world's most successful counterfeiters.

If the 29-year-old star accepts the lead role he will start filming the movie - which will be produced by Paramount - early next year once he has finished work on his latest flick 'Unstoppable'.

The script has been penned by Frank Baldwin based on the book 'The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter' by Jason Kersten.

The book depicts the real-life story of Art's journey from a troubled childhood to his illegal money-making activities.

Brian Robbins will produce the film with Sharla Sumpter and Brad Weston.
