Hans Zimmer has hit out at the Acadmey for missing Christopher Nolan off the Best Director list once again.
Nolan's latest movie Inception was a critical and commerical hit when it was released last summer and while it got a nod for best Picture Nolan was once again overlooked.
Zimmer picked up a nomination for original score for the sci-fi hit and had nothing but praise for Nolan.
Speaking to the Press Association Zimmer said: "I think he was held up at gunpoint.
"My instinct tells me that because it was a commercial success, suddenly they took the idea of artfulness away from him.
"I think if the Academy wants to stay current ... they need to go and look at these things very carefully. I've worked with a lot of directors.
"There are few directors that are in the class of a Chris Nolan ...It's not right."
However Nolan didn't miss out completely as the film picked up eight nods including Best original Screenplay for Nolan.
