The Dark Knight's director Christopher Nolan is not committing to a third movie in the revitalised franchise claiming he would only return if the story was good. The popular comic book character made a return in 2005 with Christian Bale in the title role after being off the big screen for almost ten years, we all remember the disaster that was Batman and Robin in 1997.And this summer saw the director and his leading man, plus most of the cast, return for a second film The Dark Knight which would reintroduce the character of the Joker to the franchise, a role that hadn't been touched since Jack Nicholson's performance in 1989.But the death of Heath Ledger surrounded the film in even more hype when it opened this summer to critical and commercial success, grossing over $991 million at the global box office making it the most successful movie of 2008.Despite this success Nolan told the Los Angeles Times that it will take an "emotionally investing" plot for him to make a third Batman movie.'And despite Christian Bale expressing an interest in reprising the role of the caped crusader for a third time it has been reported that he is the favourite to play the Marvel superhero Dr Strange.
