Christopher Nolan will make fans wait for another possible film in the Batman franchise - after signing up to helm another movie.
Nolan took over shooting the comic book adaptations in 2005 with Batman Begins, and followed it up with 2008 box office smash The Dark Knight.
Fans are eager for a third Batman offering by the British filmmaker - but any plans for another outing for the Caped Crusader will have to wait at least another two years after Nolan signed up to direct sci-fi offering Inception.
Inception is based on a script written by Nolan himself and is slated to start shooting in the summer (09), with a release date expected n 2010.
The science fiction project was described by the Hollywood Reporter as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind".
Since the release of The Dark Knight back in the summer there have been series of rumours surrouding the sequel, and if it would go ahead at all.
Big names such as Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy have been linked to the role of the Riddler while Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman was rumoured to have been approached for the part of the Penguin.
Ealier this week a group of Heath Ledger fans have demanded The Joker be retired from all future Batman movies as a mark of respect to the late star.
The actor died from an accidental overdose last January and has been nominated for a best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance.
