Clint Eastwood has revealed that he doesn't understand why directors retire.
The Oscar winning filmmaker, who turned eighty earlier this year, admits that he not even thinking about turning his back on his directing career and plans to carry on working until he is 100.
Speaking to ContactMusic he said: "I'm always sort of shocked when directors retire. I figure your best years should be at a point when you've got a lot of so-called knowledge.
"There's a Portuguese director, Manoel de Oliveira, who's still making films and he's over 100. I plan to do the same."
And Eastwood is back in the new year with Hereafter, which has already been released at the U.S. box office, which sees him once again team up with Matt Damon.
The director already has another project in the pipeline as he plans to bring the story of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover to the big screen in Hoover, which will see Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role.
But we have not seen Eastwood in front of the camera since Gran Torino last year.
Hereafter is released 28th January 2011.
