Clive Owen's Scented Script

Clive Owen can "smell" bad scripts.

The 'Closer' actor claims he can recognise when dialogue he is given is not appropriate for the characters he is portraying.

But they're not allowed to see the film

He said: "I can smell bulls**t in a script and I can call it and say, 'That's not right'.

"I can't fix it. I wouldn't be able to rewrite it. But if you give it to me, I can say, 'Now that works.' I'm very clear about the rhythm and the way people speak it."

The 'International' actor also revealed his daughters Hannah, 12, and Eve, nine, begged him to phone his 'Derailed' co-star Jennifer Aniston because they are such big fans of her TV show 'Friends'.

"Hannah's like, 'Call her up, call her'. I'm not calling her up. What are you going to say to her? They hit me up for weird things like that."

The girls also enjoy going to their dad's movie premieres - but they are banned from watching the films.

He explained: "They come to every film. They meet everybody. But they're not allowed to see the film. Most films I do are not appropriate. When they turn 18, they can watch Closer."
