Animation Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs has remained top of the U.S box office with a further gross of $24.6 million.

The adaptation of Judi Barrett and Ron Barrett's popular book easily held off competition from Surrogates, the new movie from Bruce Willis.

Despite a $15 million gross Surrogates had to be content with the second spot. Directed by Jonathan Mostow the film is set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop (Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others’ surrogates.

There was another new entry at number three as the reboot of the popular eighties movie Fame made a healthy $10 million in it's opening weekend to round off the top three.

Matt Damon's latest movie The Informant dropped two places from two to four while there was also a two place drop for Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself at five.

The final new entry in this week's top ten came in at number six in the form of Dennis Quaid's new picture Pandorum.

There were three place drops for Love Happens, Jennifer's Body, 9 and Inglourious Basterds as they completed the top ten.
