Dakota Fanning is set to star as a vicious vampire in 'New Moon'.

Producers of the sequel to 'Twilight'- based on the popular novel franchise by Stephenie Meyer - are apparently so keen to cast the 14-year-old actress as the evil Jane she does not even need to do a screen test.

A source said: "There were no auditions. They just offered it to her outright, and now they're in negotiations. They've been going back and forth."

'The Secret Life of Bees' star is being lined up to play Jane, a member of a more than 3,000 year old coven of vampires called the Volturi.

The character is described as an angelic-looking demon with red eyes who has the ability to create illusions of pain in her victims.

'New Moon' - which reunites 'Twilight' stars Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart - is due for release in November.
