Danny Boyle

Danny Boyle

Danny Boyle was influenced by British filmmaker Nic Roeg.

Boyle's last movie Slumdog Millionaire dominated the awards season going on to scoop eight Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director and the filmmaker has revealed that Don't Look Now and Walkabout were the movies that deeply impacted on him.

Speaking to The Independent he said: "Nic Roeg has been a real inspiration as a director. Finding out that he was a British filmmaker astounded me.

"I watched his movies, including Don't Look Now, Walkabout and The Man Who Fell To Earth and it was wonderful to feel that someone from our own country had made those films."

"The thing about Hollywood is that it always feels so far away, so distant, so glamorous, so out of reach. But it isn't."

Since his Oscar success Boyle has been inundated with offers of work, including helming the twenty third Bond movie - which he declined.

Since then he has been linked with the remake of musical My Fair Lady, which will star Keira Knightley.
