Danny Dyer reveals that he had a lucky escape from a stomach but that went round the cast and crew of Age of Heroes.

Age of Heroes was Dyer's last movie project and saw him tackle a World War II movie - inspired by Ian Fleming's founding of 30 Commando Unit.

And Dyer counted himself lucky that he never fell ill while shooting in Norway.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actor said: "It was pretty tough. We were in Norway, with metres of snow, right up in the mountains. But it was also the same time as the volcanic ash thing so we couldn't fly out - we were stuck there."

"And also because we were all staying together in a really remote hotel, this illness was going around. This vomiting diarrhoea thing.

"Everyone was just catching this illness - there would be some days when half the cast were down, so we'd have to stop filming and just see what was going to happen.

"You'd just wake up and think, 'How many people are going to be gone today?' It was horrendous because you couldn't get away from it, you were just waiting to catch this horrible disease.

"The director got it. Sean Bean got it. There was only about eight or us out of about 50 that never caught it and I was one. I was really lucky! It just made the job so much harder. But we got through it."

Age of Heroes is out on DVD now.
