David Schwimmer is like an awkward giraffe.
The former 'Friends' star says he relates to Melman, the animated character he voices in the 'Madagascar' movie series because he shares his unease around the opposite sex.
More so when I was like a teenager
He said: "I love Melman. I think he's a sweetheart. My heart goes out to how awkward he feels and I certainly related to that when I was a certain age. More so when I was like a teenager. I can definitely identify and relate to Melman's reluctance and terror of confessing his love for Gloria the hippo."
The actor - who recently made his directorial debut with 'Run, Fatboy Run' - also revealed he loves the younger fan base starring in the franchise has brought him.
He added to Parade.com: "I guess a whole new audience - all these kids that are totally unfamiliar with 'Friends'. Suddenly, I've got five and six-year-olds that are just dying to have me do the voice so they can introduce their friends to Melman. But I have to tell you, I'm getting a kick out of it."
