Following the success of Starsky and Hutch, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn team up once again for another comic romp. The film celebrates a sport long since banished to elimentary school playrounds. Not only do they celebrate it, but Stillers willingness to look like a total idiot just for a laugh takes the game to a whole new level of silly. Vince Vaughn plays Peter laFleur; the easy going doofus who runs the Decrepit 'Average Joes Gym' which, since the glitzy Globo Gym, opened across the street has been losing money. Stiller is a preposterously vain egomaniac on the cusp of taking over La Fleur's failing business.LaFleur learns form a conveniently beautiful attorney (Christine Taylor) that if he doesn't come up with $50,000 in 30 days, his career running a gym will be over.Potential salvation arrives in the form of a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament, but conquering a sport one hasn't played in several decades isn't such an easy feat. Fortunately for Peter, he finds a coach for his team: the hardheaded, ex-superstar Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn). As Peter and his ragtag team make their way to the championship in Las Vegas, they must contend with White, who has assembled a team of his very own. Rawson Marshall Thurber's debut feature is a highly assured work, which features hilarious cameos from Chuck Norris, Lance Armstrong, David Hasselhoff, and William Shatner. This is not a good movie by any means, the plot is shaky and the movie is full of dumb, dodgy jokes, but the production crew seem to be well aware of this fact and it becomes a laugh out loud comedy, up there with the likes of Spaceballs and Airplane!. There's just something good about watching a grown man get bombarded by big, red rubber balls! Despite what anyone tells you, this is by far the funniest film of 2004Visit the official site
