Ewan McGregor's Rome Regret

Ewan McGregor was disappointed he didn't get to go to Rome to film 'Angels and Demons'.

The 'Star Wars' actor - who plays a priest on duty in the Vatican during impending papal elections - was hoping he would be flown to the Italian capital, but instead spent most of his time in Los Angeles.

And he'd not only kind of told me, he'd not only let me know what he wanted out of the scene

He said: "The rest of the cast went to Rome. A lot of Tom Hanks' stuff, and Ayelet, they shot in Rome. But all of my stuff took place in Los Angeles, and a couple of days in a Palace in Italy, in a place called Cassarta.

"It's a shame I didn't get to work in Rome. I've been waiting to work there forever, and I thought this was my chance. But it didn't work out that way."

Despite not getting the location he wanted, McGregor felt privileged to make the movie because he was being directed by actor Ron Howard.

He added: "I've always loved working with directors who've acted, because they can convey to you what they need. I realised one day, I walked on set, and I had a chat with Ron. And he'd not only kind of told me, he'd not only let me know what he wanted out of the scene."
