'The Expendables 2' starring Sylvester Stallone and John Travolta, will be partly shot in China due to a distribution deal with the country.
Sylvester Stallone's 'The Expendables 2' is to be partly shot in China.
The 'Rocky' actor - who starred in and directed the first instalment of the action movie - and his financier Nu Image are looking to partner with a Chinese distributor and have reportedly agreed to shoot scenes in the Communist nation.
'The Expendables' - which featured Jason Statham, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren - was the tenth highest grossing film of 2010 in China, taking $32.1 million.
Now, the studio believes it could generate extra cash by shooting in the country.
However, Trevor Short, chief financial officer of Nu Image, confirmed the shooting would not result in a negative view of China.
Asked what government censors look for when deciding if a film can show in the country, he said: "It can't be detrimental to China."
He also revealed a Chinese co-production deal for 'Conan the Barbarian' was turned down because of its fantasy elements.
He said: "They seem to have a problem with mysticism and fantasy."
The announcement comes after recent confirmation Donnie Yen - a huge star in China - has been offered a "tailor made" part in the movie.
The Simon West-directed 'The Expendables 2' is due in cinemas in August 2012.
