Felicity Jones has called her time working on The Tempest with Helen Mirren and Russell Brand an 'extraordinary' experience.

The actress has completed work on Julie Taymor's big screen adaptation of the Shakespeare classic in which she plays Miranda alongside the two British stars.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actress said: "It was absolutely extraordinary," she said. "They're both brilliant actors so I had a fantastic learning experience watching them work.

"Obviously Julie Taymor is an insane visionary so it's great to be a part of it.

"There was a lot of discussion about underpants, mainly! Russell gave Helen, as a birthday present, a pair of his underpants. That was a particular highlight of Russell Brand!"

But Taymor's movie has a twist the central character has changed gender from Prospero to Prospera so Mirren could take on the part.

And it's a star studded cast as Mirren, Brand and Jones are joined by Chris Cooper, David Strathairn, Djimon Hounsou, Alfred Molina, Ben Whishaw and Alan Cumming.
