Tangled

Children’s education charity FILMCLUB sent two junior reporters to the film’s UK premiere to interview the film’s star Mandy Moore and creative team ahead of its release on Friday 28 January.

Sioban, aged 9 from Stockport, and Rachel, 10, from Cornwall, who are both Young Ambassadors for the nationwide charity, quizzed Hollywood actress Mandy Moore, (The Princess Diaries, American Dreamz), who voices the character of Rapunzel in the film, and the creative team behind the new animation - directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, and Glen Keane, the film’s animation supervisor, directing animator and executive producer about making the new 3D movie.

On her character Mandy Moore told the young filmclubbers - "I play Rapunzel in Tangled and she’s a young woman, about to turn 18 and she’s lived in this tower her entire life.

Her mother sort of kept her in this tower. She’s longing to figure out what these lights are that appear in the sky every year on her birthday.

So she’s really dreaming about leaving the tower and experiencing the real world for the first time. She meets up with this bandit, who somehow ends up in her tower and she convinces him to help her on this journey and escape the tower..."

Rachel and Sioban also quizzed producer of Tangled - Glen Keane on the tricks of the animation trade. On the animation provess Glen commented - We animate to the voice first, as you have to actually have to hear a word spoken to express it (visually).....

So we recorded Mandy Moore first, and then we listened to it. You get a picture in your head first and you know how to animate it.

On the experience of interviewing stars on the red carpet, both Siobhan and Rachel had an 'excellent' time as FILMCLUB reporters, and were delighted be told by Mandy Moore that their interviews were - 'awesome' much better than most of the adults!"
