This Friday sees the release of Flowers of War, a sweeping epic from acclaimed director Zhang Yimou starring Christian Bale, the visual mastermind behind House of Flying Daggers and Hero.
Bale stars as John Miller; an American on a visit to China who manages to get himself caught up in the Nanking Massacre. There he takes shelter in a convent for Catholic girls, and is forced to protect them, and other residents who come to them for safety from the marauding Japanese forces.
To celebrate the film’s release, which sees the first real collaboration with a major Hollywood star in over 100 years of Chinese film history, we’ve got an exclusive clip for you below as well as the film's trailer.
Flowers of War is out in cinemas on 3rd August and on DVD on the following week.
