Gerard Butler has delighted fans by convincing movie bosses to stage the European premiere of his latest film Law Abiding Citizen in his native Scotland.
The star, who plays a man intent on avenging the murder of his family in the new thriller, broke the news that the picture's red carpet event will be held in Glasgow to thrilled devotees during a webchat earlier this week (ends01Nov09).
He says, "Maybe I will see some of you at the premiere of Law Abiding Citizen because we are having our European premiere in Glasgow.
"Get merry and drink. I wish I could but I can't. Have a good time!"
Law Abiding Citizen sees the popular actor team up with Oscar winner Jamie Foxx. who is following up his The Soloist success.
Despite mixed reviews for the movie it has performed well at the U.S. box office and is currently at numner three.
The film follows an everyday guy who decides to take justice into his own hands after a plea bargain sets his family's killers free. His target: The district attorney who orchestrated the deal.
It's been a busy year for the popular actor as he has moved between action and comedy with movies such as Gamer and The Ugly truth.
And it looks set to stay busy for Butler with Burns, Coriolanus and The Bounty all on the horizon.
Law Abiding Citizen is released on 27th November
