'Milk' director Gus Van Sant is among a number of filmmakers lined up to helm the final 'Twilight' movie.
The 57-year-old Oscar-nominee has been selected by studio Summit alongside 'Marie Antoinette' director Sofia Coppola and 'Dreamgirls' filmmaker Bill Condon to consider helming 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'.
Van Sant's representatives confirmed to Entertainment Weekly he had been approached to work on the movie, which will potentially be made in two installments.
A final decision is unlikely until details about the adaptation are given by screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.
Meanwhile Chris Weitz - director of the 2009 installment of the franchise 'New Moon' - admits he is glad to say goodbye to the vampire films.
He said: "I was really astonished. to encounter that level of devotion, and I'm very happy, I must say, to be able to lapse into complete obscurity again and never been recognised for the rest of my life.
"I wasn't prepared for it, honestly, I knew it was a big deal, but it's one thing to deal with that conceptually and another to fear for their lives in the presence of thousands of teenagers."
