Guy Pearce says that his character in Lockout is not your typical action hero.
The Aussie star is back on the big screen this week in new sci-fi movie Lockout in which he plays Snow, a wrongly convicted man who is given the opportunity of freedom if he rescues the president's daughter form an out of space prison.
And while Pearce admits that he found the role fun he says he wasn't looking for an action role.
Speaking to The Press Association the actor said: I wasn't consciously thinking it was time to have a bit of fun, but I suppose I found this character appealing.
"I liked the idea of playing an irreverent character like Snow. He's not the typical action hero. He exhibits a lazy and exhausted quality, which I thought was quite funny."
This is the first sci-fi project of the summer for Pearce as he will also be starring in Ridley Scott's Prometheus later this year.
He has also completed work on Lawless, which also stars Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf.
