Hannah Montana: The Movie has toppled Fast & Furious from the top of the US box office after just one week at the number one spot for the fourth film in the Furious franchise.

Grossing $34 million in it's opening weekend the film continues to follow Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) who is struggling to juggle school, friends and her secret pop-star persona; when Hannah Montana's soaring popularity threatens to take over her life she just might let it.

So her father (Billy Ray Cyrus) takes the teen home to Crowley Corners, Tenn., for a dose of reality, kicking off an adventure filled with the kind of fun, laughter and romance even Hannah Montana couldn't imagine.

Fast & Furious, which sees Paul Walker and Vin Diesel reprise their original 2000 roles had to settle for the number two spot grossing a further $28.7 million.

Monster Vs Aliens also fell one place from two to three while it was a new entry at number four for Seth Rogen comedy Observe and Report. Knowing fell one place from four to round off the top five.

The only other new entry inside the top ten was Dragonball Evolution, based on The King Piccolo Saga Dragonball. This week's biggest faller was The Haunting of Connecticut, which fell from three to seven.
