Rare $9,000 Harry Potter Book Stolen

Police in Oxford, England are hunting for a couple suspected of stealing a rare first edition of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone from an art gallery.

The tome, which is valued at almost $9,000 (£6,000), was taken from a special display box at the Creative Art Gallery in Woodstock, Oxfordshire.

A man and woman were captured on Cctv nabbing the J.K. Rowling limited edition, while a gallery assistant was busy with a group of visitors.

Local cops are now asking for information and have released images of the suspects.

Geoffrey Allen, from Thames Valley Police, says, "I believe this was anopportunist crime and the offenders took advantage of the gallery assistant being occupied by a group of people. "There were only between 300 to 500 copies of this limited edition everpublished, so it is very rare.

The owner of the book is very keen for itto be recovered and we are appealing for anyone who recognises the two people in the Cctv images to call us".
