Hayley Atwell almost gave up acting after auditioning for Woody Allen. The actress recently starred with Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor in 'Cassandra's Dream' - her first movie role - but admits the audition process was so traumatic, she considered quitting the profession. She said: "Loads and loads and loads of actresses were auditioning for Woody."You just go into this room and you're given about three lines of dialogue and all you have to do is look at the person that's reading with you, do the dialogue, and then leave. "You have no sense of who the character is, what the film is called or who the other actors are, or what the situation is. "And I left thinking that was hideous, I'm never going to work again, I don't want to be an actor anymore!"Hayley was also surprised by how quickly she was offered the role, receiving the news two weeks later, but came to realise the director always works at speed. She added: "They flew me out to New York and I spoke to him for about a half an hour, and he just said, 'I want you to play Angela' and that was it. Very quick.
"Woody doesn't talk. There's no rehearsal, there's no read-through, there's no socialising. You do it in two or three takes and you go home at 4 o'clock in the afternoon."
