Horton Hears A Who, the big screen adaptation of the Doctor Seuss favourite leads the UK box office on it's opening weekend.The film which stars the voice talent of funnymen Jim Carrey and Steve Carell grossed over £2.9 million on it's opening weekend and also tops the U.S box office.It held off strong competition from another literary adaptation The Spiderwick Chronicles, which entered the chart at two grossing over £2.5 million. Chart position three and four were also new releases with Step Up 2 the Streets entering at three holding off former U.S. number one Meet the Spartan, a spoof of last year's 300, which opened at four.Last weeks number one prehistoric adventure 10,000 fell four places to number five.There were also new entries at nine and ten with Race and Spanish-Mexican production The Orphanage, which rounded out the box office chart at 10.1.
