Hugh Hefner believes James Bond author Ian Fleming was inspired by Playboy bunnies when he wrote about the women in his books.

Hugh Hefner claims Bond girls are based on Playboy bunnies.

I know that Fleming was influenced by Playboy. What are Bond girls but bunnies really?

The 85-year-old magazine mogul thinks James Bond author Ian Curtis was inspired by his Playboy publication and claims he can see the similarities between the female characters in the series and the women who worked at his famous Playboy clubs.

He said: "I know that Fleming was influenced by Playboy. What are Bond girls but bunnies really?"

Hugh also revealed he is delighted a documentary has been made about his life after a planned biopic with Robert Downey Jr. fell through.

He said: "Robert did contact me. It was after 'Iron Man'. Brian Grazer was looking at it and I met with Diablo Cody but it's reverted back to us. That's something we'll be looking at."

Speaking about the documentary 'Hugh Hefner: Playboy Activist and Rebel', he said: "It's nice. That someone has documented the other part of my life. I'm not saying it's the full story but it is the lesser told one. I know my life remains controversial to some. But I tried to make a difference, and I think I've managed to do that."
