Hugo Weaving

Hugo Weaving believes that Marvel won't bring back the character of Red Skull in the Captain America franchise and admits that it is not a role that he wants to reprise.

The actor took on the role in Captain America: The First Avenger last summer alongside Chris Evans as the Captain America franchise was launched.

And while Weaving says he has no plans to return to the character it is a role that he is glad he did.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I [signed a multi-picture deal] for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back.

They might for The Avengers, but I didn't think I'd be in Captain America 2 or 3.

"I don't think Red Skull will be there. And it's not something I would want to do again.

"I'm glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn't want to force someone to do it, if they didn't want to."

Weaving will be back on the big screen at the end of the year as he reprises the role of Elrond in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

He will also be part of the ensemble cast that includes Halle Berry and Tom Hanks for the big screen adaptation of Cloud Atlas - which hits the big screen early next year.
