Ian McShane's 'Complicated' Pirates Role

Ian McShane has called his role as Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides complicated.

The British actor is set to star alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the fourth Pirates movie but has revealed that it takes him forever to get into his make-up and costume.

Speaking to MSN Movies the actor said: "I'm doing Blackbeard now, who's a complicated character, with a complicated beard, which takes two and a half hours to make up, getting into complicated clothing."

"It feels like we've been filming it for three years - we were in Hawaii for two months, LA for a month and now in London for two months."

It's been a busy year for the actor who starred in 44 Inch Chest before going on to return to TV for Pillars of the Earth, an adaptation of the Ken Follett novel.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released 18th May 2011.
