Jared Harris has described the character of Moriarty as 'amoral'

The actor is all set to play Sherlock Holmes' nemesis in new movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - which sees Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law return to the role of Holmes and Watson.

Guy Ritchie is once again in the director's chair while Harris is one of the new faces on the cast list second time around.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "I think that for me... [Moriarty's]'s amoral. He's moved beyond the concept of there being a heaven and a hell and a God and a devil, and there being good and evil, he doesn't believe in it.

"And if you don't believe in that moral construct, then everyone is free to do whatever they want."

And Harris has nothing but praise for his co-star Downey Jr.

"I experienced [Robert] as being an incredibly generous, very, very charming, incredibly accessible person.

"I genuinely, genuinely have a great deal of affection for him, and I admire his talents and his work."

Sherlock Holmes:A Game of Shadows is released 16th December.
