Jean Dujardin has come under fire in his native France over provocative posters for his latest comedy about adultery.

The French hunk can be seen holding a woman's legs in the air, under the tagline "I'm going to a meeting", in advertisements for The Players, which he also co-wrote and co-directed.

We already feel that this campaign is against the rules, even if it relates to the subject of the film, a comedy about adultery

Another billboard ad reads, "It's going to cut out. I'm entering a tunnel" above a photo of Dujardin's co-star Gilles Lellouche, who appears to be receiving oral sex.

The campaign has attracted a flood of complaints and calls for the risque images to be banned, and now authorities have agreed to take the ads down.

Stephane Martin of the ARPP, France's advertising regulator, tells Le Parisien newspaper a committee will meet to make an official ruling on theads, which will be removed in the meantime.

He explains, "We already feel that this campaign is against the rules, even if it relates to the subject of the film, a comedy about adultery.

"As a preventative measure, we've already counselled JC Decaux, who arein charge of the billboards, to take them down".
