Jeff Bridges has revealed that he wrote to Martin Scorsese to try and land a role in The Last Temptation of Christ.
The actor admits that he was a huge fan of the book and was keen to take on the role of Judas in Scorsese's adaptation of the novel.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "The only time I wrote to a director asking if I could be in his movie was when I wrote to Martin Scorsese asking to play Judas in The Last Temptation Of Christ," he said.
"I love that book and the author Nikos Kazantzakis is a favourite of mine. That might have been the only movie I went after to get."
However the role of Judas went to Harvey Keitel.
Bridges can be seen on the big screen at the moment as he joins forces with Joel and Ethan Coen in True Grit.
For his central performance in the movie Bridges has picked up a Best Actor Oscar nod - twelve months after he walked away with the gong for Crazy Heart.
