Jeremy Irons hates a lot of his films.

The British actor - who has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Tony among other awards - said he's not pleased with many of his films, and sometimes acted in bad films for the pay cheque, or to bolster his career.

He said: "There's actually quite a few that I'm not particularly proud of. Either because my acting wasn't profound enough or just because the film didn't work. Of course afterwards I wished I would've never taken those parts.

Among them are a few films, which I don't like mentioning, but which I was paid a whole lot of money for.

Despite his career success, 61-year-old Jeremy - who won an Oscar in 1990 for 'Reversal of Fortune' - said he also missed out on some films he would have liked to do because of money.

He admits: "You don't always get to do the films that you long to do. Sometimes I just need the money or my career needs a boost so I can keep myself at the top. "

Jeremy admitted to turning down a role in 'Lord of the Rings' because New Zealand was too far away, and chose a different role in children's fantasy 'Eragon' so that he wouldn't have to spend time filming a sequel.
