Johnny Depp believes that there is chameleonic side to everyone.
The actor is back on the big screen this week, or his voice is at least, with new movie Rango, which reunites him with his Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "What I saw early on with the character, and something that Gore and I talked about, is that it is in sort of all of us, in a way.
"There is a chameleonic side to all of us in which we find ourselves in certain situations that you have to adapt to, sitting across from personalities that you have to adapt to in order to survive the moment or survive the day.
"That's kind of how I saw Rango."
Rango kicks off a busy year for the actor as he is set reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow this summer in On Stranger Tides.
It's the first Pirates movie since At World's End back in 2007 but this time around it's Rob Marshall in the director's chair.
He will also star in the Rum Diary later this year and is set to reunite with Tim Burton for Dark Shadows.
Rango is released 4th March
