Johnny Depp Jokes About Sparrow's Sex Change

Johnny Depp has revealed that there are no changes to Jack Sparrow in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie - joking that he has a sex change.

Depp is back as Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which sees director Rob Marshall tackle the franchise for the first time.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "Well there was a sex change. I honestly think old Captain Jack found himself a long time ago.

"I don't think he can't go any further, I think he's hit a wall as it were."

The movie sees Depp reunite with Penelope Cruz, they starred together in Blow, and he had nothing but praise for his co-star.

"She's a serious force to be reckoned with, Penelope. We did a film together years ago called Blow, which was wonderful.

"She's really a treat, she's a heavy hitter. You can throw all kinds of stuff out there into the atmosphere and she'll snatch up something and throw a curve ball back at you.

"It's very stimulating, she's someone I adore, one of my best friends, so yeah it's been great having her."

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released 18th May.
