Jon Favreau has called Daniel Craig a 'Bad Ass Hero'

The pair are set to team up this summer for Cowboys & Aliens, which also stars Harrison Ford, which sees Craig fighting off alien forces.

"He understands the nature of what it is to be a badass hero."

Favreau is back in the director's chair for the movie for the first time since the success of Iron Man 2 last summer.

And Favreau has nothing but praise for the British actor.

Speaking to Latino Review Favreau said: "Though Daniel Craig has never been a Western gunfighter, he has been James Bond. He has been the lead in crime dramas, like Layer Cake.

"He understands the nature of what it is to be a badass hero."

Penned by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman the movie also stars Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and Olivia Wilde.

While Craig has been working on a series of projects including Dream House, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo this will be his first movie since Defiance.

Cowboys & Aliens is released 12th August.
