Jon Favreau has revealed that he uses the independent movie work ethic on his big budget blockbuster pictures.
Favreau is back in the director's chair at then end of the month for iron Man 2 and says that he wants that 'indie movie' set feel to bring the best performances out of his actors.
"Coming out of improvisation, where you had to rely really heavily on the performances because in smaller films that's really all you have going for you. So I really try to keep that atmosphere of a little indie movie on set.
"There's always room for spontaneity - and discovery and exploration. There are so many aspects to the film that you can't alter - when it comes to action, that stuff is being planned a year ahead of time.
"There's not a lot of flexibility once you start down that road. So the attempt on set is to create an unexpected quality to the performances."
Iron Man2 comes two years after the unexpected success of the first movie and sees Robert Downey Jr return to the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man
With the world now aware of his dual life as the armoured superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military.

The movie sees Gwyneth Paltrow return to the role of Pepper Potts while Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Don Cheadle all join the cast.
