Jonathan Mostow's Surrogates Interest

Jonathan Mostow has revealed that it was the blend of escapism as well as the compelling ideas that drew him to his latest movie Surrogates.

The movie stars Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell and is set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop (Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others’ surrogates.
 
In an interview with Digital Spy he said: "First you go, 'Wow, that'd be cool to make a movie with all these good-looking robots.' That's just sort of the escapist entertainment part of it.

"But then you find the ideas really compelling, it makes you think about all these ideas, it makes you think about all the time you do spend in front of the computer and the internet and Facebook and all these things."

"You think, 'What did I use to do with all that time before I had this technology at my fingertips?' That's what drew me to making this particular film."

Surrogates is released 25th September.
