Grieving Preston Takes on New Role

Bereaved Kelly Preston threw herself into her role in upcoming movie Casino Jack to help cope with her heartbreak following the tragic death of her son Jett.

The Jerry Maguire actress and her husband John Travolta were devastated when the 16-year-old died after suffering a seizure while the family vacationed in the Bahamas in January (09).

The distraught couple pulled out of all public work commitments for months afterwards as they struggled to come to terms with their loss.

She wanted to do this to get back to work. She talked to me about her loss. She is deeply affected by it and she brought that to her character

And when Preston finally returned to work, playing Kevin Spacey's wife in the thriller, she used her grief to channel real emotion into her character.

Director George Hickenlooper says, "She wanted to do this to get back to work. She talked to me about her loss. She is deeply affected by it and she brought that to her character".

Casino Jack is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2010.
