Naomi Watts King Kongs new Fay Wray

Naomi Watts was reported as saying she will have a tough act to follow when she plays the starring role in a remake of the 1933 classic King Kong. The character is Ann Darrow, a role made famous by Hollywood legend Fay Wray, became famous for her screams whilst in the paw of the giant gorilla swinging from the top of the Empire State Building. Ms watts was full of awe for the actress who she met just before her sad death on Aug. 8 in her Manhattan apartment at age 96, saying that she had big shoes to fill.Ms Watts is hopeful that the role will not leave her typecast in the same manner as Fay Wray was. The remake of the 1933 movie, also titled King Kong, is to be directed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, and will co-stars Adrien Brody and Jack Black. Jackson was promising a completely different and updated version of the thirties classic, with a different plot and altered characters. The new King Kong is due for release in December next year.
