Les Miserables has ended The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's reign at the top of the UK box office.

The movie sees Tom Hooper back in the director's chair and it dominated the box office this weekend as it took an impressive £8.1 million.

Les Miserables has been winning over critics and audiences around the world and fans of the show have flocked to cinemas to see this highly anticipated movies.

It was another good week for Life Of Pi as it was up a place from last week's number three.

Gangster Squad was the second new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number three.

The movie brings together a great ensemble cast as Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn and Emma Stone all star.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is down three places this week at four after a month at the top of the chart.

There was also a three place drop for The Impossible as well this week as it was down from two to five.

Texas Chainsaw 3D was the third and final new entry inside the top ten this week as it took £1.8 million.

Quartet, Jack Reacher and Pitch Perfect all fell three places to seven eight and nine this week.

Parental Guidance was also a three game faller as it rounded off the top ten this week.
