Liev Schreiber joins Toni Colette in Mental

Liev Schreiber is to star alongside Toni Collette in PJ Hogan's 'Mental' playing a politician who has to hire a nanny after causes his wife has a nervous breakdown due to his cheating.

The actor has signed up for director PJ Hogan's latest comedy film, joining Toni Collette, who will take on the main female role.

The film tells the story of Shaz (Collette) a crazy hitchhiker who is hired by a dirty politician to be a nanny to his five daughters after his numerous affairs put his wife in hospital with a nervous breakdown.

Although it has not been confirmed, it is thought Schreiber will play the politician.

Speaking about the film, Hogan - who worked with Collette on 'Muriel's Wedding' - told Variety: "Like 'Muriel's Wedding', Mental is a comedy laced with pain and brimming with flawed but lovable characters. Shaz is hilarious, outrageous, dangerous, courageous, inspiring, heart-breaking and totally, totally mad."

Shooting started in Australia yesterday (25.07.11) and Hogan has scheduled three months for filming.

Jerry and Janet Zucker will produce the film, along with Todd Fellman and Jocelyn Moorhouse.
