Lily Cole

Lily Cole has admitted that acting is like walking a tightrope.

The model moves to the big screen this week with her role in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus alongside Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer and Johnny Depp.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph she said: The good actor is the one who always has a moment when they nearly fall off."

The future of the movie was thrown into doubt when Ledger passed away in January 2008 in the middle of filming.

Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law all stepped in to complete the movie in the memory of the popular star.

But Cole had nothing but praise for her late co-star and was thankful for his support during her transition from model to actress.

"Heath was totally without fear as an actor. When you see him as the Joker in The Dark Knight, or any of the characters he has done, he really lives and breathes the character - he was always totally committed."

"There is no doubt that Heath was a massive support to me. I had done so little and had almost no experience, and yet Heath was really generous.

"He was aware that I was nervous, this being the biggest role I've ever done, and he was making a real effort to encourage me."

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is released 16th October.
