Michael Sheen "secretly followed" David Frost for his new movie role.

The actor portrays the journalist in 'Frost/Nixon', which tells the story of his legendary 1977 television interview with shamed former US president Richard Nixon, and Michael admits he resorted to covert tactics to get the role right.

He is quoted as saying: "I just followed him. That sounds a bit creepy, doesn't it? I took photographs of the back of his head. I wanted to watch how he walked and then I took a picture to get his stance. It is a bit weird."

The Welsh-born actor - who portrayed former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in both 'The Queen' and 'The Deal' - recently admitted Frost was "very supportive and generous" while he prepared for the role.

He said: "He's the ultimate club member. He knows everybody. He introduced me to the Prime Minister Gordon Brown for God's sake."

'Frost/Nixon', directed by Ron Howard, is in cinemas now.
