According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bond girl Eva Green and Jackie Earle Haley have signed up for roles and Burton's wife Helena Bonham Carter is also expected to take the part of a psychologist in the film.
Pfeiffer was last seen on the big screen in Persona Effects, which saw her team up with Ashton Kutcher.
She is currently working on New Year's Eve, a follow up to last year's Valentine's Day by Garry Marshall.
She joins as all star cast of Kutcher, Josh Duhamel. Katherine Heigl, Robert De Niro and Jessica Biel.
