Michelle Pfeiffer To Play Chris Pine's Mother

Michelle Pfeiffer is set to star as Chris Pine's mother after joining the cast of new family drama Welcome To People.

The Dangerous Liasons actress, 52, will portray Pine's widowed mother, whose prodigal son returns home to attend his dad's funeral.

Tron: Legacy beauty Olivia Wilde has been cast as Pine's girlfriend, while Elizabeth Banks will play his estranged half sister, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Production on Welcome To People, which will be Star Trek screenwriter Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut, is due to begin next week (begs17Jan11).

The actress is currently working on Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve - a follow on from his 2010 movie Valentine’s Day.

She is joined by an all star cast of Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Hilary Swank and Jessica Biel.
