Mickey Rourke is to star in erotic drama '11 Minutes'.

'The Wrestler' actor is due to appear alongside Alice Braga and Vincent Cassel in the film directed by Hany Abu-Assad, who also helmed 'Paradise Now'.

The plotline will be based on the sex-filled novel by Paulo Coehlo in which Rourke will play a gentlemen's club owner.

Braga will star as the female lead, a girl who becomes an expensive call girl after being betrayed by her first boyfriend.

When the girl starts working at the club she becomes involved with the owner and Cassel's character, a music executive with a love for S+M.

Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio is also in talks to join the cast.

Oscar-nominated Abu-Assad has reworked the script from an earlier adaptation by Marcos Bernstein.

The move is due to start filming in Brazil and Geneva this June.
