Naomie Harris has thanked director Danny Boyle for kick starting her career.

The Oscar winning filmmaker cast Harris as Selena in his 2002 movie 28 Days Later - which went on to have huge critical and commercial success.

Since then Harris has gone on to star in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End as Tia Dalma as well as Miami Vice and My Last Five Girlfriends

Speaking to Digital Spy the actress said: "He's so amazing in terms of how much he's doing, I know he's squeezing in a film before [he directs the Olympics opening ceremony], he just does so much and works so hard.

"He's the reason, really, that I have the career that I've had because he took a risk on me and gave me Selena in 28 Days Later.

"[He] really started my career for me, I'm very grateful to Danny Boyle."

The actress is rumoured to be in talks of the new James Bond movie - which would see her work alongside Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes.
